Few days from now our school-SCHOOL FOR LIFE (MONTESSORI) will celebrate its 20th Foundation Anniversary. In 1994,Nestor and I did a big leap of faith when we both gave up our work-Nestor as a Programme Executive of the World Scout Bureau, Asia Pacific Region based in Makati while I as a Junior Teacher 3 in O.B. Montessori Greenhills. With a modest amount to purchase Montessori materials but with great faith in God, we started our school that year with the thought of providing the educational foundation of our very own three children- Miko, Miles and Lemu who were then 6, 4 and 2 years old and having them enjoy the simple life in Nestors hometown Kidapawan. Life for the past 20 years has been full of beautiful memories, challenging circumstances, thoughtful and kind people , priceless joy of teaching school children and interacting with supportive parents as well as having dependable and loyal teachers and employees. Today, I am grateful for having submitted to Nestors decision of settling here in Kidapawan.There is no place like it- with its cold climate, thick trees, fresh water (we can still drink from the tap), abundant fruits-durian, mangosteen, lanzones, rambutan and best bananas,clean air and no traffic jams. Yet in her seemingly provincial setting are the availability of communication technology and good private and public schools. After 20 years, we count our alumni our best blessings.It is also joyful to remember that from renting a number of houses and buildings, today we have our own lots and buildings-(modest they may be).Miko Mikhail Ness M. Buhay is now a medical doctor, Miles Kamille Liza M. Buhay a Registered Nurse and a 2nd year law student while Lem Buhay is on his internship in architecture.While raising our own children, Nestor and I have also pursued our own personal advancement.I finished my Ph.D while Nestor is on his completion.Through the years, we have kept in our folds loyal and teachable teachers who share the same passion with us- Cecille Eucogco Libo-on, Nova Sumandi and Normelita Daquio and trustworthy finance officer Weng Buhay. Without them, we could not have put up Sfl Montessori Matalam, Sfl Surallah, Sfl Bukidnon and DDC Academy,and Mambajao Alliance Child Learning.Added to our gifts of people are Mr. Marc Parantar Pacificar, Mr Jaypee Jonas and Charmaine Uy-Jugador who are heading the branches with unmatched dedication; Helen L. Nacua and Annalyn Ascano Abba Namnama with brilliance andpatience in administering the consultancy schools. With these blessings, there is nothing mine nor Nestors. The Lord alone has brought us this far. Thank you again to my colleague and humble yet intelligent classmate Dr. Nell Limbadan for first tagging me in this gratitude chain.We can never tell how its power has brought people to solitude with their source of life and strength.Salamat Nell .This is my second round in the chain.
