Few things about the #Anoolee statue inaugurated today ****************************************************** 1) The place on which the statue constructed was where Oromo Lubas used to convene to transfer #baalli, a symbolic crown held by the custodian #Abbaa_Gadaa 2) The statue covers 800 square meters land slot with building complexes including museum 3) The total cost for its construction has been estimated at about 40 million ETB 4) It has been indicated that about 9400 people from 29 Oromo clans were the victims of the atrocity as organized and orchestrated by King Minilik-II in his direct order under his own physical watch. Pitfalls during the inauguration of the statue: A) OPDO, the surrogate party of TPLF now ruling Oromia, hijacked the whole historical narratives on the event dedicating them to build its rather thatched image among the Oromo people. This is just part of the ugly obsession of this party constituted by people subscribing to it for no other reason than “work for food” and still struggling to win the hearts and minds of Oromos, even with a slightest of informed opinions, after 2 decades of subordinate service B) I guess #Minilikan parties like #Semayawi and #All_Ethiopian_Unity_Party (Hailu Shawal’s party) should have been kept in the loop of the inauguration program. They were supposed to have been officially invited to have a say and reflect their ideas, what so ever, on the statue.
