Few things are quite as intimidating as a blank sheet of paper, - TopicsExpress

Few things are quite as intimidating as a blank sheet of paper, but even fewer things as satisfying as filling it up. The apprehension and reward to me are not unlike the work of raising a child. Like a newborn baby, the page is fresh, clean, and utterly powerless over the story about to unfold; ready to be filled with thoughts of your choosing at the mercy of the time & attention you give it. There is something charmingly old fashioned about keeping a journal~much like a quilted receiving blanket, heirloom baby dresses or family recipes shared over thanksgiving dinner. When your world turns upside down as often happens with a babys arrival, these simple pleasures can feel like anchors, keeping you steady as you find your way. When your head and heart are adrift in a storm of love , exhaustion, and overwhelming expectation, falling back on the tired and true process of writing may be the only way to regain some balance. Your words will surely become a timeworn treasure for future women of your family. I write for myself. I write for my daughter. I fill pages with the love and consideration we both deserve. I believe it is a worthy effort that will reward her generation. I hope by having access to the words she reads that I wrote for her it will be a solid springboard into her own independent life as well as a soft place to land at home. A journal is assembled wisdom~
