Fields across Kansas continue to dry up leaving farmers statewide scrambling to finish harvesting their wheat, according to the most recent 2014 Kansas Wheat Harvest Report from the Kansas Wheat Commission, Kansas Association of Wheat Growers and Kansas Grain and Feed Assn. According to the report, yields continue to be lower than average but above expectations for the years harvest. The quality of the wheat has dropped slightly due to the influx of rainfall, but still remains good overall.
