Fifty-five years ago, TODAY - 10th MARCH, thousands of Tibetans spontaneously gathered to stand against CHINESE GOVERNMENT in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, as they feared harm to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Seven days later, His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Lhasa and fled to India. Around 80,000 Tibetans followed him into exile. Since then, Tibetans mark this day as Tibetan National Uprising Day Sadly, the Dalai Lama is not only in exile in India, but is also still not allowed to visit South Africa. We must not forget and continue to raise awareness for this issue.
