Fiji football drops to worst ranking Rashneel Kumar Sunday, October 26, 2014 FIJI has dropped to its lowest ever rankings in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday. The national mens football side is now ranked 192 out of 208 nations affiliated with FIFA. Fiji has yet to play any international matches since the 2012 Oceania Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands. Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel made a commitment of securing international matches after winning the elections in 2011. Fiji only managed to gain points in 2011 when it featured in the Pacific Games in New Caledonia and in 2012 after playing in the OFC Nations Cup. The national side has not earned any points since last year. Fijis ranking is unlikely to improve when the next world rankings is released on November 27 as there arent any international matches lined up this year. The Juan Carlos Buzzetti-coached side is confirmed to play in the 2015 Pacific Games in July in Papua New Guinea. Buzzetti named a 29-member squad, which was in camp in Ba last week, after the 2014 Courts Inter-District Championship. Fijis previous lowest world ranking was 191 last year. Fijis best ever world ranking was 94 which was achieved in July, 1994. New Zealand is the top ranked nation under the Oceania Football Confederation on 131 followed by New Caledonia on 153, Tahiti on 166, Solomon Islands on 180, Samoa on 189 and Vanuatu on 190. 2014 FIFA World Cup champions Germany is the top ranked side followed by Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Netherlands, Brazil, France, Uruguay, Portugal and Spain. Meanwhile, the Fiji womens football side is also ranked on its all time lowest on 133.
