FijiFirst leader Bainimarama makes victory speech “I am the Prime Minister of all Fijians, I am the Prime Minister for all Fijians of all Fijians for All Fijians. Victorious FijiFirst leader Voreqe Bainimarama has reassured his supporters that he will lead the new government and serve the nation for the next four years. In his victory speech this morning Bainimarama thanked a wide group of people for their support during the past eight years and during the election period. “I am greatly honoured and humbled that the Fijian people put their trust in me to lead them into our new and true democracy – my absolute promise that we will govern for the well being of all Fijians. Bainimarama went on to thank the soldiers of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces, who he says unwaveringly stood by him since the events of 2000 and stood for the ideal of true democracy. “I publicly acknowledge and thank them (military) for their camaraderie, vision, perseverance and their sacrifice. It is their legacy that today we have a democratically elected parliamentary government under an internationally claimed constitutional with a vast array of civil, political and social economic rights and that will deliver good governance and transparency.” In a historic turn around Bainimarama becomes the only political party leader to take a commanding lead in the polls under the new electoral system. “Not everyone voted for me, but the fact that we have so far approximately 32 seats in the 50 seat parliament demonstrates the enthusiasm and the faith and the trust the Fijian people have had for both the track record of my government and FijiFirst manifesto.” The FijiFirst leader has also thanked the Election Staff, the Electoral Commission and the Multinational Observer group for their professionalism and the international partners for making the 2014 the most efficient, transparent and credible election in Fiji’s history. He also gave credit to all his party candidates. “I would also like to thank each of my candidates for their hard worked during the campaign. We tried as hard as we could to win all the 50 seats and I am sorry that some of you had missed out but rest assured that your hard work for our movement will not be forgotten and I will always be grateful.” The FijiFirst party has secured 32 seats out of the 50 seats in parliament, where as the Social Democratic Liberal Party has 15 seats and National Federation Party has 3 seats. fbc.fj/fiji/23116/fijifirst-leader-bainimarama-makes-victory-speech#sthash.Au2pgAg2.dpuf
