Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola will be visiting the Secretariat of the Pacific Community Headquarters in Noumea, New Caledonia this week. SPC’s governing council is the Conference of the Pacific Community and Fiji. Ratu Inoke is Chair of the Conference of the Pacific Community until Niue hosts the Ninth Conference of the Pacific Community in November 2015. During his visit, he will be meeting with the recently-appointed Director General of SPC, Dr Colin Tukuitonga and visiting the headquarters building to meet with the Senior Leadership Team at SPC. The Minister will also meet the Vice president of the Government of New Caledonia, Gilbert Tyuienon, the French High Commissioner Jean-Jacques Brot and MSG Chair Victor Tutugoro. The visit according to a Fiji Government statement follows ongoing developments through various channels since the Eight Conference of the Pacific Community held in Suva on 18-19 November last year. SPC is an international organisation that works in public health, geoscience, agriculture, forestry, water resources, disaster management, fisheries, education, statistics, transport, energy, human rights, gender, youth and culture to help Pacific Island people achieve sustainable development.
