Filling Your Mind to Fulfill Your Life Dr John C. Maxwell - TopicsExpress

Filling Your Mind to Fulfill Your Life Dr John C. Maxwell illustrated the difference attitude can make by sharing excerpts from “a dog’s diary” and“a cat’s diary.” The dog’s day is filled with his favorite things: a car ride, a walk in the park, sleeping, etc. The cat’s diary entry, beginning with the heading “Day 938 of My Captivity,” reveals a very different perspective on similar experiences. Can you recognize both optimistic, positive “dog people” and negative “cat people” in your life? Which do you think you are on most days? Ecc 10:2: Wise thinking leads to right living; Stupid thinking leads to wrong living. ======================== Philippians 4 (The Message): My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don’t waver. Stay on track, steady in God. Pray About Everything 2 I urge Euodia and Syntyche to iron out their differences and make up. God doesn’t want his children holding grudges. 3 And, oh, yes, Syzygus, since you’re right there to help them work things out, do your best with them. These women worked for the Message hand in hand with Clement and me, and with the other veterans—worked as hard as any of us. Remember, their names are also in the Book of Life. 4-5 Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute! 6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. 8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious— the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. ========================================== This passage offers a guide for living a fulfilled life: 1. Celebrate God 2.Add Value to People 3.Give God Your Concerns 4.Experience God’s Wholeness People with great attitudes: 1. Possess a Teachable Spirit 2. Take Responsibility for Their Attitude 3. Travel the High Road 4. Understand Its Value John Maxwell said: “Most of the baloney we have in life, we packed in our own lunch pail.” There are plenty of other people around to blame for our own bad attitudes: our parents, our spouse, our boss, our fellow drivers, our elected officials... the list goes on. Even in the midst of difficult circumstances, even if surrounded by sin and negativity, how can you take responsibility for your own attitude? What does it mean to fill you mind with good things and meditate on them? gochristfellowship/about-us/sermon-archives/#action=watch&series=6&sermon=15
