Final update about my Dad before we return to regularly scheduled programming: he is (adamantly) going home to the cabin tomorrow. He remembers everything and is convinced I made it all up, including his lab work and confusion. His kidney issues were corrected with rapid aggressive treatment. It was likely caused by a medication given to him recently during his back Kyphoplasty. The gastric issues are being sorted out. Hes had 3 different antibiotics and seems to be doing well. His thinking has basically returned to baseline and he is back to his cranky old demanding self. I am not sure what the future hold for him and his ability to live alone, but that is something the social workers will have to figure out as he wont be able to fire them this time. I will go back to living with him and caring for him during the week when Im not working so from here on out just assume no news is good news.
