Finalists in Groups 2 & 3 of CFU Women’s U-20 decided Anguilla topped Group Two with nine points, after defeating Antigua and Barbuda 1-0 and was joined by St Kitts/Nevis who ran over British Virgin Islands (BVI) 11-0, to secure the two available places from Group Two for the finals of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under 20 Tournament. These games were played at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. The goal scorer for Anguilla was Jamesa Jones in the 85th minute. In the game between BVI and St. Kitts/Nevis, it was Phoenetia Browne who started the flood of goals scored against BVI in the 12th minute, and subsequently scored in the 30th, 34th, and 64th minutes. BrittneyLawerence scored her hat-trick in the 17th, 72nd and 76th minutes, Shinell McCalla netted in the 19th, and 91st minutes, while Kerisha Powell made her contribution in the 47th and 50th minutes. These results mean that Antigua and Barbuda finished third in the Group while BVI was fourth. In the meantime, host Suriname topped Group Three with maximum nine points to advance to the finals along with Grenada, who earned six points from their games to qualify. Suriname underlined their rampant form by brushing aside St. Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0. The goal scorers were Jean-Jett Dijon in the 20th minute, Sabrina Rigters, in the 79th, and Saffira Hoogdrop in the 90th minute. Grenada won their last game 3-2 against Dominica. Cherese Hood netted for Grenada in the 10th and 27th minutes, while Ariba Collins scored in the 20th minute. Samantha McSween scored an Own Goal in the 61st minute, which was awarded to Dominica, while Kasika Samuel found the back of the net for Dominica in the 85th minute. These results put Dominica in third place, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, fourth. All eyes are now set on Group Four, which is to be hosted by Jamaica. Matches are scheduled for July 23, 25 and 27, between Bermuda, Cuba, Jamaica and Curacao from which the last two finalists will emerge. The finals are tentatively set to be staged in Puerto Rico in October of this year.
