Finally I could try my hand on the Hyundai i20 Elite !!! After i10 GRAND, hyundai has once again managed to impress everyone with this awesome new car. This car is a definite head turner. Even while I was taking the test drive I could spot people turning back with curious looks. I list here some of the highlights of this car. Exterior: While there are plenty of changes in the design, the features that I liked the most are the massive 16 Alloy wheels (195/55/ R16), the large fluidic tail lamps and a bold black C Pillar. Even the hexagonal front grille looks very classy. Interior: Take the drivers seat and the first thing that catches your attention is the super stylist instrument cluster. This combination of a big digital screen in between two round analogue meters looks like that of a premium sedan. This digital screen displays the speed in kmph along with all the necessary information like, gear shift indicator, odometer, trip meter, temperature, service information, fuel indication etc etc. The leather wrapped steering wheel feel awesome to hold and is super smooth. Hyundai has also provided lots of controls on the steering wheel which I felt are a bit difficult to use. The centre arm rest cum storage box between the driver and passenger seat is very conveniently located and is very helpful for long drives when we usually keep just one hand on the steering wheel. Although I felt there could have been a centre arm rest for the back seat as well. The rear AC vents are somewhat bigger and raised a bit higher than those in i10 Grand which throws the air higher and helps in faster cooling. There are two 12 V power sockets in the front but I think it was better to place one in front and other at the back along with the rear AC vents just like in i10 Grand. The music system has all the necessary features and is easy to operate and the sound quality is great thanks to 4 speakers + 4 tweeters (one in each door). Convenience: Few new features added here are the integrated rear parking camera along with steering adaptive parking guidelines display in rear view mirror and rear parking sensors makes parking very easy. There is also a sunglass holder near the front lamp. So overall I would say hyundai has done a great job by upgrading the i20 and they have almost eliminated all the shortcomings in the i10 Grand. At 7.26 lacs on road Delhi/UP for the top end petrol variant, I would say it is definitely a car to consider if you were trying to pick one from the likes of Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, or Hyundai Xcent.
