Finally a theory that makes sense and doesnt support continued drugging of children to force them to conform. I have had conversations with my sons teachers about taking away his recess time, gym class, music class, etc. because he would be too jumpy in class (the worst was his kindergarten teacher). I requested that they have him jog, do push ups, or jumping jacks during recess instead of free time with his friends if he was disrupting class by fidgeting or moving around the classroom. In response I was told thats not school policy and recess is a break for teachers to catch up on things and they dont have staff for my request. Instead I was asked if I would like the school psychologist to observe him to make a recommendation to his doctor about ADHD and talk about the possible advantages of medication. Any one who knows me well can probably guess how I received this response.
