Finally getting grounded after a whirlwind weekend of events and emergence back into work hustle. I cant believe it has been a full week since we last gathered. I am still riding off the high of it all! What an amazing weekend celebrating Six Years of Uhuru Afrika in both NYC and Boston. Special thanks to everyone who contributed to the effort including the artists: Sidy Maiga, Oscar P, Mikeytown and Ivan Diaz as well as our amazing support staff: Redness, Jessica Poche, Rescue Poetix, Sparkkle Thames, Power Quevedo, John Brewer and Leo Alarcon, everyone who celebrated their Birthdays with Oscar, Ivan and I including Natasha Ivory, Leanna Yip and Sarah Jackson. A big thank you to all the staff and management of Meridian 23 in NYC and MilkyWay in Boston. I would also like to give a very special shout out to my amazing partner in love and life Raven. She puts in so much work to help make Uhuru Afrika what it is. From taking over household chores for me so I can focus on Uhuru Afrika related tasks, to literally setting up and breaking down the party in the venue. Her contribution is immeasurable and I am blessed for her support and dedication to me as a person and to my labor of love Uhuru Afrika. Gratitude for the Uhuru Staff who were there at the beginning: Max Pela, Jay Medina, Andre Edwards. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER SUPPORTED US!!!!!!! Without the community, this movement would be just an intention. You are the ones who bring the energy to the space and help fruition the intention. I am full of gratitude for your support of SIX Years of Uhuru Afrika events. Regardless if this past weekend was your first one, or if you are one of the many who gathered with us at the beginning, it has been a beautiful Journey full of incredible music, love and positive vibes that has spawned love and even babies to couples who have met at our events! I have only the fondest memories. This following lineup of artists, friends, venues and organizations that have graced our humble gathering, or who we have collaborated with is inspiring.
