Finally got to talk to my niece in Illinois today. She is a bit - TopicsExpress

Finally got to talk to my niece in Illinois today. She is a bit overwhelmed with trying to make necessary phone calls to get things rolling. Of course her phone was destroyed so she is borrowing one. It was a brand new phone shed only had 2 months and when she talked to the phone company, they told her it would be $300 to replace the phone and accys., (which she didnt pay that much for it when she got it new). Way to be there for your customers phone company! She got to go back to the place where her apartment was today. She took pictures of where things should have been but really nothing there to take pictures of. Thankfully she does have renters insurance, so that will help her replace items that can be replaced. Believe me there is nothing that can replace the sentimental treasures that got destroyed. Her vehicle has a lot of damage also and will probably be totaled. She did say that they DO NOT need any more clothes as they have what they need for now. As she has no apartment to go back to, she and her kids are staying with friends and family. She didnt confirm this but I had been told by a family member that the organization YouthBuild has adopted her family to help out. How and what this involves Im not sure. She wanted me to thank everyone who is praying for them as it was prayer that saved them. They had like 20 seconds to grab a blanket, run and crouch in a corner, cover the boys with the blanket and throw herself on top of them and began praying before it hit. She thanks you from the bottom of her heart for everyones donations to help. Right now cash or gift cards are going to be the best way to go for anyone who can help as she and the insurance company are in limbo until she can come up with a list of everything they had and the cost. This will be a HUGE task and it has to be done all while still working, kids going to school, living with the bare necessities, numerous trips to the store buying things that you didnt realize you needed until you need it. Dealing with so much at a time can be very stressful! I want to thank everyone for helping in any way you can! Please continue to pray for ALL the families dealing with this disaster. God bless you all!!!
