Finally, i have given the most arduous exam today, yes GRE. Quants 168 Verbal 155 Must say verbal was tough. Guys do practice vocab in context. In text completion, almost all the options can be substituted, you need to know fine differences between them..and some of the questions were of 4-5 line. Quants was ok with 3-4 good questions which require reasoning. I was not able to solve one question at that time as i got confused: Numerical Entry Question: A line was given with negative slope and was passing through first quadrant cutting x intercept at point a and y intercept at point b. Also it was given that slope of line is less than 1 and contains point (2,2). Also area of triangle formed by the axis and the line is 9. Need to find the slope of line. Assumption: 1. You have already prepared well enough and not a amateur Some useful tips: 1. Most of us prepare hard, attempt lots of practice test and what not but miss out the most important point that need to be taken care of . FONT Yes a factor carrying 4-5 points. How? Attempt any maths question /verbal passage from your workbook(paper-based) and then from computer. Same question is easy to comprehend from paper based. Also while attempting from computer try to change font and see the impact. I have tried to imitate the GRE font using MS-Word and find out that they are most probably using Batang,14 for their material.See the impact a font can make. For me this was one of the reason i was not able to focus much on the text and had to read a question two times......... So make sure guys focus computer-based reading and that too converting the font 2. Analysis of Verbal Section For each section there will be 10 RC question, 6 TC(2 one blank, 2 two blank , 2 three blank ), 4 SE (most probably easy one). This is how i tackled the section. I knew im weak in RC and need more time. So i went after TC and SE taking 10-12 min, this leaves me with 18-20 min for RC.Yes there will be RCs b/w TC and SE , just skipped those. Then i went after all the RC having one paragraph but containing 2 or more question. This will boost your confidence as you will be attempting more number of question. After this you will be having two type of RCs, RC having one para 1 question (strengthen/weaken, vocab in context) and RC having 2-3 paras having 2-3 or more questions. I went after 1 para 1 question as they are more logical and less time consuming and as i know the fact that the RC having 2-3 question will most probably have one question based on central theme/tone/purpose for which a cursory of the RC and eliminating options will do wonder and wont take much time and will leave me with 1-2 question only. To be succinct a. Attempt TC ans SE, skip RC b. Attempt RC having 1 para and 2 or more ques.(Time factor) c Attempt RC having 1 para 1 ques(since more logical) d Attempt RC having 2-3 para , 2-3 question(most probably will have one central theme/purpose type quest that can be tackle easily) 3. Always remember this is not a life deciding factor. Nothing much will happen even if you do not perform upto the mark (except financial factor). No one will put you behind the bars. On the test day there will be other students , dont ever talk to any one, all of them are fools. you are there to lead them, you are going to have a exceptional score and show those poor fellows the light and the path to be followed to be successful. 4. After the score good or bad go to home pull out a chair, have a beer, hands behind your head , close your eyes and enjoy. You deserve it my friend. Some useful material: 1. Apart from magoosh prep material you should check out vocabulary , gre.wordpandit to have proper context of any convoluted word. 2. dict.hinkhoj is only for guys belonging to India or neighboring countries to figure out the meaning of word in Hindi language. I wish you guys all the best!!! keep rocking !!! keep chillaxing!!! Last but not the least, guys i think i have screwed my AWA issue section, will it affect much?
