Finally time to fish Lafayette Reservoir again! Being on the tail end of a nasty chest cold, I wanted to take it easy. So we went to good old Lafayette (Only ten minutes away) in lieu of our usual two hour drives elsewhere. Once again I brought the wonderful staff a giant bag of Halloween treats. Although a little late, They always appreciate it. Got our rental boat and on the water at 7am. We started in the back end of the lake. Calm water, slight breeze = perfect conditions for the Mike and Kristy drift. It didnt take long before the fun began. We ended up with 10 Lassen trout today from 15 to 18. All head shaking fighting mad. We successfully released six of them. They were hitting on white power eggs and brown power worms. Although I think any color combination of the two would have worked as well. Only saw five boats out today. No pressure and fairly easy limits. That may change after I post this though. lol. Wind picked up around 10am and it actually got colder as the day progressed. We headed in and left the park by noon with four fat footballs in the cooler.... The lake is full to the brim and stocked with fish. Come and enjoy! They should pay me to say that lol. But its true. Lafayette trout fishing is back! Hope you all had a great weekend.
