Finback whale video today - August 25/14. We saw Humpbacks too, - TopicsExpress

Finback whale video today - August 25/14. We saw Humpbacks too, but today I want to take this opportunity to tell how special/unique the group finback feeding behavior is in the world. I have posted a lot of videos of groups of finback whales charging past the boat, usually loud, bold, fast, etc. This is very, very unique and special. In most of the world watching finback whales means finback whale, not whales. That is just the way it is. Finbacks are loners.....2 or 3 at the most. Well, here on Grand Manan Island finback whales feed in groups of from 3 to 15 (and more) whales, all coming to the surface at the same time, swimming in unison, feeding in unison and cooperatively. They are loud, fast, bold and just exciting. We have done a little research and are aware of only 3 other areas in the world (yes, in the world) where this behavior can be seen, but......these other areas are all in remote areas of the ocean. So, finback whale watching on Grand Manan Island is probably the best you will ever be able to see. Hope this helps you all appreciate what you are seeing in these videos or from our boat if you are fortunate enough to sail with us to see these whales. Humpback whales are fun, sometimes; right whales are rare and endangered; finback whales are GREAT!!!....my humble opinion :o) whales.ca
