Find Yourself in Kerr Village Kerr Village BIA is seeking an Executive Director. Located in Oakville, Kerr Village is just a stone’s throw from Lake Ontario, bounded by Lakeshore Road West (South), the Canadian National Railway (North), Maurice Drive (West) and Queen Mary Drive (East). It has an inviting, eclectic and trendy sort of vibe that’s undoubtedly influenced by the 39 cultures this community represents. With an intriguing mix of small town hospitality and urban revitalization, Kerr Village is home to a trove of retail treasures where unique ‘mom and pop’ shops offer unusual items including home décor, handcrafted furniture, antiques and artwork. Specialty stores that boast a range of chic clothing, children’s accessories, hobby supplies and gifts for collectors are complemented by a range of eateries from every corner of the world. With stakeholder and membership relationships a key priority, the Executive Director will deliver creative programs and events that attract businesses and patrons to Kerr Village. The Executive Director will have a close working relationship with the Town of Oakville on streetscaping and administrative and financial matters. Reporting to the Chair of the BIA, and responsible to the Board of Management that represents 300 merchants, the Executive Director will demonstrate exemplary public relations, marketing, organizational and event planning skills supported by strong business and financial acumen. This is a one-year contract position. Qualifications and Competencies The successful candidate will hold, at a minimum, a college diploma in business administration complemented with 3-5 years of leadership experience in a business improvement, non-profit or voluntary sector management position. Key competencies include an outstanding record in growing a membership base, sustaining effective working relationships, marketing, communications and event logistics and promotion. The achievement of results through effective, time, project and financial management is critical. Highly effecting speaking, listening and writing skills; self –sufficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications with tolerance and flexibility to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in a dynamic environment are fundamentals.
