Finding My Grandparents - its not every day you can go looking for - TopicsExpress

Finding My Grandparents - its not every day you can go looking for your ancestors ...and find them. When I first came back to Ohio, after being gone some 25+ years, I set out to locate my deceased paternal grandparents grave sites, so I could pay my respects and tend to the grounds. I found the Cemetery where they were laid to rest, but could not find the exact location of their markers. We stopped there during the day and searched several times, without any success. Finally, I decided we should go at night. :) Stepping out of the car and into the cool fall air, I quietly and politely introduced myself, and stated I was looking for my grandparents and said their names. We have so many family members laid to rest there; I just knew someone would help me find them. Little did I realize that my grandmother would show herself, in almost every picture I took that night! It was two days later, before I finally had time to load the card in the PC and take a look at the pictures. Picture after picture, Im sitting there in wonder at all of the colorful orbs and streaks. In picture after picture, an adorable bright green light squiggled around the cemetery, always in front of us or beside us. In many of the pictures, the green phenomenon appeared in the same place. In some pictures, a long red streak would appear. My excitement was hard to contain. After work the following day, we drove back to the cemetery, using the yellow curve sign on the road as our marker, I took more pictures. Back at home I loaded the card and began comparing the headstones to the ones in my night pictures. Ah-ha! Found the spot. Quick! Back to the cemetery, because it was starting to get dark. We parked at the far end and walked down the row looking for their names, near the larger marker in my pictures. Right where the light kept appearing. Found them. I was thrilled! Looking down on the weathered stones, at my grandparents names, I felt an immediate reconnection with my grandmother. I can still remember her loving hand reaching out to help me up the steps when I was just a toddler. That night I called my brother & sister on the phone, I shared with them what I had found. They came over that week, looked at the pictures, then, we all headed over to the cemetery so they could pay their respects, as well. The best part about these pictures Id like to share with you is this; some of the green squiggles are trying to form letters. Right above my grandmothers marker. C is the first letter of my Christian name. Since then, I visit frequently, taking more Family Photos. Placing flowers, or sitting quietly, just listening... Pictures to follow. ☠Canda☠
