Finding out that you have cancer and then facing the often long, arduous course of cancer treatments can leave you feeling tired, cranky, scared, helpless, frustrated, blue, or all of the above. Everyone is different; some people sail through the experience with only mild bouts of worry or sadness while others struggle all the way through. Most people, however, land somewhere in the middle. Over the week, or so, I will be putting up helpful suggestions for managing the emotional challenges of cancer. Also, dont forget that Home of Hope has many wonderful support groups available to help cope with the emotions. This Tuesday, May 6th, Dr. Wakefield will be at the Breast Cancer Networking group to answer any questions you may have about diagnosis, treatments, surgery, etc. See you at 6 pm. Wednesday, May 7th at 6 pm is the Mens Cancer Group. This group is facilitated by a cancer survivor who knows what it is like to deal with the frustrations and roller coaster of emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis. Also on May 6th, we have our Facing the Challenge support group which meets at Home of Hope at 11 am. This group is for anyone -who has been touched by cancer.
