Finish Your Story Working Out My wife just came in the room and said,I think Im taking the boys to the gym. I can hear the groans and excuses coming from downstairs now. When I was living in San Diego, California I was a volunteer fitness instructor at a gym. If Mark was there I got very little weight lifting done. That was mostly because when I was lifting hed walk by and say something. I just flew in from Austria and boy are my arms tired, hed joke. All of this was done with a Hans and Franz Austrian accent. Mark would wait until I had weights up in the air and then say, look at the girly man with those puny arms. I got very little lifting done but it was extremely entertaining. I worked out at Golds Gym and sometimes youd meet people that graced the covers of magazines or who played professional sports. To be honest, a lot of them didnt want to be bothered. Some of them simply loved themselves so much, you didnt want to come between them and the mirror. I was once doing legs presses and as I got of the machine and turned, I was face to face with a woman that had her head shaved on the sides. Mind If I work in? she asked in a very deep voice. All yours, I stated as I walked away scared. There were a lot of steroids being used and also male hormones. That caused a lot of people to look scary and this woman scared me. They had pictures of athletes all around the gym. Some were autographed with short thank yous on them. As I was working out with Curt DiGiacomo one day he told me to follow him. He took me to a room and there was a picture of a lineman who played for the Kansas City Chiefs,thats me, he said. Curt was now 50 pounds lighter and worked for Xerox as a salesman. He looked nothing like the guy in the picture. Curt really was a humble man and if he hadnt shown me the picture I wouldnt have known he was in the NFL. I hope he is still doing well, I heard he got cancer but survived. I know this, you could cut in front of him at the gym, he wasnt starring at himself.
