Finishing The Shenandoah Mountain 100 in 10 hours has been my mountain bike training goal for the past year. The thought of it totally stoked me (and still does). It motivated me to ride my bike when it snowed, when it rained, when I was sick, tired, or had a tough day at work. It pushed me to race locally and regionally- learning strategies, mechanical skills and nutrition. The event had the best cycling scene Ive experienced, and the riding was a mix with technical east coast, rocks and roots, riding that had a big mountain feel- especially during the mega climbs/descents. In total the course climbed about 14,000 in 100 miles. It was an amazing ride and I couldnt stop smiling the whole time… Not just because it was a well-oiled event, with world-class trails, but because of the the awesomeness and support I felt throughout the past year from friends, family and strangers; all of whom helped get me there. I finished in 09:59:57 it was totally rad and gnar. Thank you for helping me accomplish this one. Cheers! dirtwire.tv/2014/09/shenandoah-mountain-100-2014-highlights/
