Finishing up my Christianity in the African American Mind paper - TopicsExpress

Finishing up my Christianity in the African American Mind paper for my African American history class, Easter came and went. I look at Africa as the macro and microcosm of human civilization from an evolutionary anthro perspective and what we are practicing today: You have a HUGE variation of bands and tribes of many beliefs surrounding growing empires. Men being the apes they are demand to continuously expand their empires to OWN MORE SHIT.The rulers have established belief systems usually predicated on how important they are. If the rulers/kings do not believe they themselves are god, they believe a perfect being made the world for ALL OF THEM. So imagine you are minding your own business, leading your life, practicing whatever religion/customs you want and the kings horses and kings men show up to your house/hut and tell you that where you are living is now part of the new kingdom under King Such-and-such. They demand you give the king a percentage of the food you produce and you now must practice the state religion. If you have access to gold, like in Africa, the king will be much more accommodating to you or just kill you. Regardless, you are forced to change your customs in accordance with the new kingdom. The kings men cannot enforce these beliefs because they are BELIEFS, they are in your head. What they can do is make sure you incorporate some of the REQUIRED beliefs to your own traditions so that there can be some measurement of regulation. In Africa Christianity/Islam melded with Vodun, in Europe Christianity melded with Paganism. So what do we do in America on almost all our holidays? The roots of paganism are still prevalent but the regulations from the state (Ancient Rome) are considered the real reason as demanded by the king. Basically I am saying I hope we incorporate some Scientology at some point soon too because we need some fresh new updated regulation.
