Fire Fighter James Moran awarded the NH Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Associate Service Award On behalf of the Derry Fire Department I want to congratulate Fire Fighter James Moran for being awarded the NH Congressional Law Enforcement Awards Associate Service Award. Jim is being recognized by Senator Shaheen, Senator Ayotte, and Congresswomen Shea-Porter and Kuster for his role in rescuing a woman who had driven off the road and overturned her vehicle into a swamp in Amherst. He assisted Lyndeborough Police Officer Ralph McClellan with the rescue. With the truck upside down and the cab almost completely submerged, Jim jumped into the water breaking the glass and pulled the driver to safety. By all accounts, the woman would have certainly perished had it not been for his courageous conduct. Members of the Derry Fire Department are not surprised to hear of his willingness to put himself in harm’s way to help another. On behalf of the Town of Derry and the Derry Fire Department we commend Jim and congratulate him in receiving this award.
