Fire Incident in Ogun State Secretariat, Oke Mosan An electricity spark from an air conditioner in one of the rooms in the Economic Planning Office yesterday led to a fire incident in the State Secretariat, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta. The fire damaged the affected air conditioner and a desktop computer before men of the state Fire Service rapidly intervened and prevented it from spreading to other offices in the complex. Head of Service, Mrs Modupe Adekunle, while leading Governor Ibikunle Amosun to inspect the affected office said the officials using the office reacted very quickly after noticing smoke coming from the air conditioner. She expressed gratitude to God for ensuring that no life was lost and that the damage to office equipment was very minimal and praised men of the Fire Service for their quick intervention. Meanwhile, Governor Amosun has ordered the Head of Service to ensure strict compliance with the schedule of monthly fire drills in all offices of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State. The exercise according to the Governor will enable all workers to familiarize themselves with the use of the fire extinguishers which the government had purchased. It will also enable the workers know how to take appropriate preventive measures when faced with emergency situations. The Governor noted that the fact that God has been kind to the State as it rarely experiences fire incidents demands that people should be vigilant and constantly get ready to act positively in case of emergency.
