Fire Officers have assisted in rescuing at least 20 people from West Trinidad which was left under water as a result of a weak low pressure system that off loaded a heavy downpour overnight. 550 first responders are said to be on the ground, working on clearing debris left from the floods in Diego Martin, Petit Valley, Maraval, Cascade and Santa Cruz. Some parts of Diego Martin are reportedly still without electricity. While the roadways in and out of Diego Martin are passable, the ODPM is reporting that the Tucker Valley Main Road is still blocked. As a result, anyone heading into Macqueripe is asked to delay their travel plans for a few hours. Intermittent showers are reportedly ongoing in Diego Martin and Tobago is currently experiencing cloudy skies and thundershowers. Citizens are advised to be cautious, paying special attention to any lightning activity and are being advised to take to higher ground should rainfall persist this afternoon.
