Fire dangers will be high across the South Plains Monday. - TopicsExpress

Fire dangers will be high across the South Plains Monday. Humidity levels will drop rapidly throughout the day as southwest winds increase behind a dryline. Partly sunny skies continue with highs in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. Lubbocks high temperature so far this year has been 99 degrees on May 5th. As the day goes on, we can expect increasing wind speeds up to 25 to 35 mph Monday afternoon. Gusts may exceed 40 mph after 3:00pm. Humidity levels drop below 10 percent this afternoon. Despite highs in the upper 90s, Mondays record high is 105 degrees set in 1996. This record will likely stand unless temperatures skyrocket higher than expected. Storm chances return to the area later this week with highest rain chances expected Friday through Sunday. Have a great Monday! Cary Allen KCBD
