Firefighters have dealt with a large fire at an unused college building in Clifton. Crews were called to the blaze just before 9am on Thursday 23 October after reports of a fire on Farnborough Road, Clifton. In the early stages, six crews were sent to the scene and include firefighters from Carlton, Central, Highfields, Stapleford and West Bridgford fire stations. Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with jets and specialist officers were on the scene to support firefighting efforts. At its height, more than 40 firefighters were part of the efforts to put the fire out. The following crews were involved: two from Central, two from Highfields, one from Stapleford, one from Carlton, one from West Bridgford, one from Stockhill, one from Newark and a Command Support Unit as well as an aerial ladder platform from Highfields. As of 12.30pm, the fire was out and crews were due to spend the afternoon damping down. The cause is yet to be established. The building is around 60 metres by 60 metres.
