Firmware update 2.0 hits PS4 28 October. The headline features? The addition of Share Play, custom themes, new background colours and a USB Music Player. That first pass the pad feature was revealed not long after PS4 was first announced and lets you virtually hand control of your game over to a PSN friend for up to an hour at a time. Ideal if youre getting your keester whomped on a particularly tricksy part of The Last Of Us: Remastered, say. Sony hasnt yet announced if youll have to pay for custom themes, but we wouldnt be surprised if a sub-£2 pricing scheme is adopted, similar to PS3s premium themes. As for the USB Music Player, PS4 will now play MP4, MP3, M4A and 3GP files, though sadly you cant copy this to your consoles HDD. Instead, you can merely stream music from a USB slotted into your PS4. Ah well, we cant have it all. Still, this is definitely the biggest system update your new-gen machine has seen.
