Firoozabad Iran Firoozabad meaning The Glory of Ardeshir, is a city Firoozabad county, Fars province. It is located south of Shiraz, and the town is surrounded by mud walls and ditch. After Alexander of Macedonia destroyed the original city of Gor, centuries later Ardeshir I founder of the Sassanian dynasty revived the city. Now the city was known as Khor Ardeshir. The city has four gates: Hormoz gate, Ardeshir gate, Mithra gate, and the Bahram gate. At the center of the city was a Zoroastrian fire temple 30m high and spiral in design. Among the many attractions of Firoozabad are the Ghaleh Dokhtar, the Palace of Ardeshir. The modern people at the city are mostly descendants of the Qashqai, they lived along the Amu Darya River fleeing before Genghiz to fars. #iran#mustseeiran#travel
