First Baptist Church of Destin Watermelon Festival Wednesday Night, July 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. First Baptist Church, at 201 Beach Drive in Destin, will be serving up ice cold slices of juicy watermelons to all at the midweek fellowship Wednesday night, July 3rd, starting at 5:30. “It’s another in our series of First Wednesday night community fellowships,” explained church Pastor Doctor Farren Roper. “In May we featured fresh Gulf shrimp boiled to perfection with all of the trimmings and fed nearly 100. For July, vine ripe watermelons featuring big slices free for all,” Roper continued “and for August we’re planning our third annual fish fry with a full meal deal plate loaded with crispy fried red snapper.” Refresh service will follow the fellowship, a unique casual full gospel service in the sanctuary with music and more as series on being a friend – not just friendly concludes. “A friend is a gift you give yourself,” Robert Louis Stevenson.
