First Half Recap--Preseason Game 3: Vikings at Chiefs Its halftime at Arrowhead Stadium and the Minnesota Vikings are leading the The Kansas City Chiefs 10 to 5. On both sides of the balls the #Vikings have shown a mix of encouraging progress and frustrating, uneven play. Matt Cassel had a great completion for a touchdown to Cordarrelle Patterson, but he also had moments when it looked like his receivers had completely forgotten how to catch the ball. Matt Asiata, Jerome Simpson, and even Patterson have had disappointing drops that have stalled drives. The defense has snagged two interceptions--one by Captain Munnerlyn and one by Chad Greenway. They have also had good moments of pass rush, keeping the Chiefs Alex Smith uncomfortable. However, they havent been as effective at containing him in the pocket and Smith has been able to get free on the edge and pick up yardage or find open receivers. Whats also encouraging is the amount of tackles the Vikings defense has made at or behind the line of scrimmage. It seems unlikely that the Vikings starters will continue to play into the second half, but we might get a look at Teddy Bridgewater with the first team offense. #Vikings special teams have been as uneven as the rest of the team, making some good tackles and return decisions, but also a few brain farts too. At least Blair Walsh hasnt missed any field goals or extra points. Will the #Vikings be able to hold on for a third preseason win? Well find out when the second half begins in just moments. Vikings 10, Chiefs 5
