First, I cant wrap my head around the fact that for this man, 3 hours walking translates into $2.50 or half a gallon of milk. Those are the kinds of equations we are used to seeing in the Global South, not in the U S of A. Second, this comment: Its utterly sad, that while Brandon [the photographer of Humans of New York] was in other countries and exposed us to the humble happiness and suffering they go through- we cheer and ask how can we help. But he comes back home and shows us our own suffering- and we offer indifference.
