First Lt. Jessie Koyle says she feels like it was the least she could do to help with the Field of Heroes. Its important because veterans and the people who gave all and gave everything and their families that are left behind without them, they need to be honored, says Lt. Jessie Koyle. Some of those crosses Lt. Koyle placed have names on them that she has personal ties to. I didnt know them really well, but I had to collect all of their personal affects and send it back to their families and you get to know them a little better that way,” added Lt. Koyle. Volunteers say they spent 4000 hours placing nearly 7000 of these crosses, that they say is a labor of love. Lt. Koyle who is the first female in her all male battalion, says she appreciates the community support and the volunteers that come out each year to make the Field of Heroes possible.
