First Passbook, now Apple Pay! I believe these things will eliminate the need for a bulky wallet. Funny story - Kevin Kohrman, Ryan Giese, Ryan Kirby, and I thought of these ideas in 2010. We entered into a business competition at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center; we were only juniors in high school. Our idea was called My Wallet and it was a smart phone app that was a virtual version of your real wallet: the app would store credit/debit cards that you could scan for mobile payments (like Apple Pay), would hold all of your IDs, gift cards, and passes (like Passbook), and linked to Facebook to show photos (like you would show photos of your kids to someone). Our app won first place in the competition. Makes me wish we patented the idea! Regardless, its exciting to see our idea rollout to the masses - even if we dont own it!
