First Session in 9th ICIEF line up the pioneer in Islamic Economics. The attempt to answer a very Critical question: is there a discipline of islamic Economics? All answer yes. The difference is in what degree it should be separated or complement conventional economics. Umer Chapra mentions Islamic economics never aims t I get rid of conventional economics. It comes to complement what are missing in conventional economics especially in ethics and morality and in defining wellbeing. He puts examplē: market mechanism on the basis of "price filter" is approved in Islam with the addition of "moral filter". Monzer khaf share similar ideas. Islamic economics with new epistemology coming from revelation would contribute in improving human knowledge. Volker Nienhaus is more radical. Islamic economics is a discipline on its own. It has the potential to be an alternative. Religion upon which islamic economics is established is a powerful instrument for that purpose. He also emphasizes the new component in islamic economics to work on, namely the Poltical economy. Islamic economics is expected to make changes and bringb fresh solutions to human wellbeing.
