First day in three weeks with an almost total blue sky. Had to run - TopicsExpress

First day in three weeks with an almost total blue sky. Had to run into town so took new camera with me hoping the southern horizon would be clear. Was finally able to take a few shots with telescopic lens. Not sure why I seem to have an obsession with this mountain but me and son have decided we are going to scale it summer 2016. Got a few smaller mountains in mind to train on during this upcoming summer. Picture is of Mt. Shasta, California elev. 14,179 feet . With a prominence(altitude above surrounding area)of 9,822 feet. Has a base diameter of 17 miles and is Californias northern most volcano. Taken from 45 miles away in Klamath Falls, Oregon. It is imposing, big and just screams , climb me. For comparison those living in Tucson, Look at Mt. Lemon and then multiply the height by 2. That is how much this mountain sticks out from the surrounding area. I have been told you can see the pacific ocean from the peak 150 miles away.
