First full test of the new Walkera Tali H500 Hexacopter today. The good: 1) Retractable landing gear looks really cool! 2) Very fast – like a turbocharged Phantom 2… 3) Battery lasts more than 20 min. 4) iLook+ camera with inbuilt video transmitter works well (will post footage when edited). 5) GoPro fits gimbal perfectly and connects easily to built-in monitor on R/C using any video transmitter. 6) Very stable in gusty conditions. 7) Heaps of options to control and adjust. 8) Ready to fly - nothing else to buy. The not-so-good: 1) Pretty heavy – weighs 2.3kg. 2) That weight gives it heaps of momentum so it takes longer to stop, especially when descending. 3) Needs more concentration than a Phantom – it moves quickly if you’re not paying attention. Not recommended for L-Platers... 4) Built-in 5 LCD needs brightness wound up to full to view in the sun. 5) R/C has shiny silver faceplate/bezel which is like a mirror when the sun is behind you. 6) Manually adjustable pitch and roll, but not yaw. Overall, a fantastic machine if you know what youre doing and amazing value for $2000.
