First let me say, I love Jeff and always will. I met him in 1998, in Boulder, as he slept on the bench in front of my workplace, dreadlocks akimbo. To my surprise 1/2 an hour later he was working next to me. Turned out he was pulling 2 8-hr gigs each day, to earn enough money for a deposit on an apartment. Back then he had a camo painted van, that had a few dings in the front, allegedly from.....well, doesnt matter. Quickly this lunatic became one of my best friends. That never changed, never will. I fixed his van, again and again, and every time he showed unmatched gratitude. In 2001 after a year or so overseas, we turned his garage into a proper workshop: rebuilt Tims Jeep, my breadtruck engine and a Chrysler he foolishly bought. These were the primetimes: Jeff provided food and beer while Tim and I worked. At one point I invited Jeff to learn what we were doing. He loved the idea, but after no more than 30 minutes he said what I still quote to this day This is not as glamorous as I thought it would be. We spent many days not quite sober, but truly enjoying ourselves. If there was one person in the world that wouldnt judge you for your own stupidity, it was Jeff. Tight with the wallet, but I swear to the gods: any problem I had that he could help with, he was there. Every time, without exception. He knew what friendship meant, and proved it time and time again. Yes, he was problematic at times, but always came back down to earth and apologized.
