First, let me say, if you are not reading Katie McGarrys books, go download one, purchase one at your bookstore, or head straight to your library RIGHT NOW! Second, what she says below is what makes her such a beautiful writer and person! Third, I love this scene from Facing the Giants. Its such an amazing lesson for all of us, reminding us to give our very best, to not give up, that sometimes our best burns. Sharing from McGarrys author page: Let me start off first by saying, I love writing. Love it. It is definitely the thing I was born to do. But sometimes its hard. I write emotional books and there are a lot of moments when Im in pain as I type each word on the page. I visit places within me, emotions, I promised Id never feel again. Think about past experiences that are like waking nightmares. In each book I have written, there are times where I feel like I have bled across the page. And when I type The End, I start all over again. I wont lie, there are times I wonder if I have the strength to keep going, to continue to write like I do, and when Im in that dark place I have the most amazing people in my life who push me through. I saw this movie this past weekend with my children and I began to weep at this scene because this...this is what writing can be like for me and I am so blessed to have a group of people who are my coach. The ones who get down with me in the dirt to help push me through. My husband, my friends, my critique group, my agent, my editor, and most of all, my fantastic readers. Every message, tweet, and e-mail you send telling me how youve enjoyed my books or how theyve helped you keeps pushing me to continue to give you the best I have within me. I love you all and I thank you all. Below is the Death Crawl scene from Facing the Giants. The journey below is what it can be like for me to write a book and you guys are the ones pushing me through.
