First of all, NEVER get out of your vehicle, unless the cop tells you to do so! The cop doesnt know who you are! For all the cop knows, you couldve just robbed a 7-Eleven, maybe youre on your way to church, or you could be on your way home from your 5yr old grandsons birthday party. Maybe, youre the 17yr old star quarterback of your high school, a 32yr old soccer mom, or a 90yr old grandfather. Maybe, youre a conservative or a liberal. Maybe, youre wealthy or poor. Maybe, youre famous or not. Maybe, youre white, black, yellow, red, or brown. Maybe, youre Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or nothing. ALL of the above is 100% irrelevant! None of it is important. None of it matters to most people, but none of it should matter to ANYONE, including law enforcement. Law enforcement officials are trained to never let their guard down with ANYONE. Theyre trained to expect the unexpected with every person and with every situation. So, if you just all of a sudden come out of your car, but the cop never told you to step out of your vehicle, then thats going to make them a little nervous and could make them become a bit aggressive verbally. Therefore, as long as you do what the cop says (morally and lawfully), then everything should be fine. As for the cop in this video, he clearly pulled his weapon unlawfully AND fired it unlawfully. There was NOT an imminent threat to the officer. Unless the officer can reasonably see there is an imminent threat to themselves and/or to other people, then the officer has NO right to fire his gun, let alone pull it from the holster. Now, because the officer didnt actually know what the guy was reaching for in his car, the officer couldve just kept his hand on his weapon, just to be safe, but NOT pull it out, UNTIL there was a legitimate threat.
