First off, I am in no way trying to take away from the fun experiences this has created or the much needed awareness that was brought to this awful disease. Im not even sure that before this challenge began I could have told you ALS and Lou Gehrig disease was the same. Now... This article just shows how the ALS Foundations money is actually used/spent. It sounds like a lot of larger organizations operate in the same capacity. So Im not faulting anyone yet. What I will be curious to see, is what these numbers look like next year. Specifically the executive salary numbers. If their 6 figure salaries double or quadruple from this, where does the non for profit part play in? Its going to be interesting to watch this thing really unfold. Being more of a grass roots giver myself, I really like what this writer says at the end. Stay informed on where your money is going, and possibly look for ways to give to organizations where a higher percentage if your money is being used for the actual cause.
