First off, my apologies for the lengthy post, but I needed to be thorough! So last nights wedding was full of surprises. Not the good kind either. Lets just say when it rains, it pours and I was extremely frustrated, and embarrassed with all the issues that happened to me. After almost 18 years in business, I felt like I was probably viewed by the guests as a beginner DJ, and Im not ok with that. Nothing that happened to me, were behind the scenes. They were all out in the open, and obvious. Ill spare you the details, but one of the issues I have been having was my Super 55 mic distorting through my MODEL 2s when being used at a higher volume with music underneath it. For instance, during the grand entrance as I am introducing or speaking about each person. Or during the open dance when Im saying something to the dancers on the floor. It seems to me I have read recently that others here have had this same issue. I NEVER had this issue with my MODEL 1 classics. This concerns me. Maybe its my settings that should differ on the MODEL 2 versus the MODEL 1, and I shouldnt be using the exact same settings? FYI.....I use a little Behringer UB802 mixer. Never was a problem with the classic L1s previously. I know its not a standard DJ mixer but I have never been a fan of the DJ mixer. I prefer more of a live sound mixer, even though a 6 channel mixer cant be considered for live sound LOL I actually would get a hum/buzz through my Classic L1 towers with a standard DJ mixer. So I switched early on (back in 2006-07). So there is that issue with the mic distortion. But ALSO, last night for the first time, one of my two MODEL 2 towers kept cutting out during open dancing, every so often. Id say, on average, every 5-10 songs it would do this. And it SEEMED to me, that it would do it after I said something on the mic. But it also did it other times too, when not speaking on the mic. Thats why Im so confused. I just traded my Classic L1s in for these MODEL 2s back in June, so they have been used a total of 10 times as of last night. When it would cut out, it would be for 5-10 seconds and come back on. I dont remember if the light on the base actually went out or not. I should have been more observant, but I wasnt. I was in freak out mode, I suppose, and as you can understand. Thankfully I always use 2 towers 99% of the time, so I never lost the music completely when the one tower went out. The other tower continued to play. So when it would go out, it was always that same tower. Both were set at the same 12 oclock position on the base, as I was suggested to set it at. My mixer master is at 9 oclock, and the channel is about 1 oclock. ON MY DJ SOFTWARE, being a slider instead of a knob, I have the players around the 90% mark, and the master software knob at 3 oclock. Anyone have some thoughts on this? Cap Capello? Anyone have similar issues?
