First, this coming Saturday, January 10, you can attend the Metropolitan Opera regional auditions at the ISU Music Building beginning at noon. Its well worth your time; even if you cant stay to the very end and enjoy the reception as well as 5 hours of arias, you are free to come and go (in between singers). If youve never been, youll be thoroughly amazed at the great talent. Those who attend yearly know what to expect! Second, the Ames Chapter on Tuesday, January 13 is honored to have Dr. V V Raman back in Ames to share Ups and Downs in the Presentation of some Verdi Operas. His talk will cover the problems and frustrations Verdi experienced when some of his operas were first performed. Remember, we start at 7:30 at St. Johns and conclude with wonderful refreshments and time to visit about opera and other things! Hope your new year is off to a great start and that the weather will not keep you away from our opera evening together!
