Firstly, Id really like to say a massive THANK YOU to those who made yesterday so very special for Deryn. We had a lovely day with very good friends, family and staff (who lets be honest, are like family now) Deryn actually managed to have a little bit of his birthday cake which is an improvement on last year... There was a short time when we thought the party may be over when Deryn proceeded to vomit all over himself in true Deryn style - Well, thats that ruined then Not at all darling I said to try and stop him feeling embarrassed... No, my Pyjamas I mean - I dont care about throwing up in front of everyone! :D The wonderful Simon Pegg rang Deryn and had a little chat on FaceTime - that was pretty spectacular too. A few people had really come a long way to spend the day with Deryn and it was so lovely to see everyone. Charlotte Thomas had shaved her head for Deryn recently and she put £1000 in a birthday card -I was lucky if I got a couple of quid in my cards at that age! :) Myself, Deryn and his dad spent hours opening, reading and putting up cards all over Deryns room - Deryn HAS read every single one of them! He was blown away by how many cards and gifts had turned up for him. Today, we went to the cinema where the Showcase cinema in Avonmead had shut off an entire screen just for Deryn as hes not been able to go to the cinema for over 18 months because of no immune system, we watched Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 - complete with popcorn! We sat with our feet on the chairs in front of us, there were no adverts, we could talk to each other and we even managed to chuck some popcorn at each other! Wicked day! This birthday has been pretty special and its all down to you guys - you went out of your way to make my boy smile and that is priceless - Thank you xxx
