Fishing & Lake Report 03/07/13 Rain last 14 days: 17.5 mm Water level current: 41.6 % Water level: 18/06/13 39% Current discharge: 1547 ML per day. Current inflow: 2367 ML per day. Water visibility: up to 1.5 metres Forecast Weather: Fine and cold through the week & over the weekend with temperatures between 1 & 13 deg Celsius. New Moon = July 8th Full Moon = July 23rd Water Temperature: 12-14 deg Murray Cod: The fishermen are starting to get scarce & I haven’t managed to get out my self in the last 2 weeks. However there were still a few quality cod being caught by those who braved the cool starts. We are still having calm sunny winter days with no frosts yet for 2013. Ando & partner managed 4 cod on Saturday casting spinner baits along the rock walls in the main basin. Darker colours with coloured blades worked the best. Fish caught were 63, 65, 70, &75 cm. Best fishing time was late afternoon with 3 fish being taken in an hour. The cod captures have stayed fairly consistent over the last month so it’s well worth a trip over the school holidays. Yellow Belly: I received a very good report after I had already sent out the last fishing report. 15 yellow belly caught around the Scrubby area on Sunday afternoon flicking soft plastics to the trees. The yellows were hitting the plastic on the drop. I did not get the details on the plastic being used but obviously one that I haven’t got. The previous method that was working was to drop the plastic down to the bottom, depending on depth and use a slow wind back to the top. There were yellow belly in the fish bins on Friday morning but I didn’t manage to catch up with the fishermen. They are still about. Redfin: Very quite, no reports this week. Trout: No reports this week. Silver Perch: No reports this week Park News: The new toilet block, near the Conference Centre will be opened for this weekend. I am also cutting down 3 of the big dangerous trees in that camping area. The camp kitchen works are also underway. The Burrinjuck Waters State Park Trust is no more. All the Inland Waters State Parks have moved to a new management model. Not much will change on the outside but I expect funding for infrastructure into the future will be easier to obtain
