Five Car Collision Causes Fatal Explosion Three men were killed and at least three others were injured in a five vehicle collision on Highway 2 about 3 miles east of Stanley. It happened just after 6:30 this morning. The driver of a tanker trailer hauling crude oil was turning north onto 79th Avenue Northwest when it struck the left side of a pick-up. The accident caused a five car pile-up. The tanker trailer exploded after impact and began to burn. The fire spread to the other four vehicles. Three of the drivers escaped to safety. The accident resulted in the temporary closure of Highway 2 east of Stanley. The vehicles burned for about five hours.
