Five hundred years ago, the Catholic Church was intolerant, - TopicsExpress

Five hundred years ago, the Catholic Church was intolerant, violent, bent on conquest, and forced others to convert upon threat of death. When Catholics came to America in the early 1500s, they committed mass murder of the native Indians and forced the rest to convert. If the United States had existed at the time, the Catholic Church would have been an existential threat to its existence. But the Catholic church has evolved; today it is tolerant, peaceful, and most importantly, it is compatible with Western values. But Islam today has the medieval mentality. It is every bit as intolerant and violent as the Church in 1500. It is bent on conquest and forced conversion every bit as much as the Church in 1500. And it is as incompatible with Western values as the Church in 1500. And because the United States does exist today, Islam is a real and present existential threat to its existence. The biggest mistake that the West is making today is appeasing Muslims. Islam cannot be appeased. Islam does not want "acceptance" and co-existence; it wants conquest. Western governments are in denial about this, as are the liberals. They think that by extending the hand of friendship to Islam, their hand will be grasped in friendship. It will not; it will be cut off. I wish this were not so; I wish it were true that Islam seeks peaceful co-existence. But it is not true. They themselves say it all the time. But when they say it, we refuse to believe it. Our state of denial will be the death of us. -- Dixon Diaz
