Five years ago I played at the now defunct Captains Rest to no one alongside a young man named Ewan Grant, he played awkward acoustic emotive pop just like me. He minded me of Brandon Boyd of Incubus for some reason, his talent was beyond clear.... we got chatting, which was a change because up until that point most folk Id shared stages with were ignorant morons. It turned out he used to date a girl from my town and he seemed waaaay too impressed that I had supported the guy from Inme the week before. Since then, weve become quite close friends and Ive watched his band Algernon Doll go from strength to strength. To make things even better he winded up roping in two other rather beautiful human beings who I already held in rather high regard- the inimitable Wull Swales & the 2nd best thing to ever come out of Bathgate Owen Wicksted. Tomorrow. Theyre heading to the studio to record their first album as a band. My excitment to hear what they come up with is beyond words.... Oh also. Theyre recording it in Chicago. With Steve Albini... So thatll probably help. HERES TO THE FUTURE OF ALGERNON DOLL MAY I FOREVER CLING ON TO THEIR COAT TAILZZZZ. https://youtube/watch?v=HuO3wwLuF0w
